Biography

Tracie King has been an educator at Delgado Community College for over a decade. She holds the rank of professor and has taught college credit courses in academic programs and alternative credit courses in workforce development programs. Her specialty areas are digital literacy, office productivity software, and creative design software and concepts. Ms. King has several tech-related industry-based certifications. Additionally, she has earned an M.Ed in mental health counseling with an emphasis on working with adolescent populations from the University of New Orleans and an MFA in computer art, motion graphics concentration, from the Savanah College of Art and Design (SCAD), the university for creative careers. MS. King has worked as a freelance graphic designer for many years. In 2014 she decided to become a solo entrepreneur, officially establishing her business and brand, Designer Rule, LLC. She has served as a business mentor to others through the New Orleans chapter of SCORE, a national business mentoring organization. Ms. King is a Doctoral Candidate in the Human Capital Development program at the University of Southern Mississippi School of Leadership. Her dissertation research explores the digital transformation of microenterprises. Her research is grounded in her lived experience of working with college students and emerging business owners, predominantly people of color earning low wages, who are experiencing the persisting digital divide in the United States, a leading country in digital transformation development and digital resources.
